Iron Man was the introductory movie to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Although The Hulk was given movies in 2003 and 2008, he was first introduced
into the MCU in 2012's "The Avengers".
Spider-Man made his first appearance in the MCU in "Captain America: Civil
War". The hero was since given a solo trilogy movie series.
Director Scott Derrickson is a big fan of Doctor Strange and spent his own money on a concept
video he pitched to Marvel so that he could get the job of directing the film.
